The last sunrise

My eyes stir open and settle on your serene face

Sunlight filters into the room, illuminates our skin

A warm good morning kiss, but something feels off

I can’t bare this feeling, will you hold my heart for me?

I can’t hold the weight of your love, can’t contain my love for you

Whenever I touch you, it’s seeping out of my fingertips

When you grace my skin with your touch, it fills the cracks inside of me with gold

Making me feel less broken, more whole

Every heartbeat reminds me of the way you took my breath

If I had only one wish left, I would choose to spent eternity with you

Every day, I wake up by your side, I know my choice was right

Safe from the horrors of the world, because I found solace in your arms

If this is the last sunrise we will ever experience on this earth

I won’t be afraid to watch the sun set before eternal darkness engulfs this planet

I won’t be afraid to die when the last thing I see is the witch light in your eyes

It could set ten billion fireflies free to fly into the night

Oh, tell me, why did we give up without a fight?
