The Shadow of Who I Am

When human observation breaks down

Where the shadows go when no light is found

Those confused thoughts when you just sit down

In front of a mirror, only to see a frown

It wasn’t always pitch black, mostly brown

Now it’s either black or white, dark or light

A co-existence since the first spark lit up the night sky

Don’t give up the fight, you must try

“The next sunrise will defeat this past”

This feeling, this trough, it’ll never last

The wind, it travels, it can take my past

But the shadow, it stays, it does last

Blackhole sun, won’t you come?

To take away the pain

Soundgarden

To free me from this foreign reign

Is there any hope in sight?

“Mr. Shadow, why must you hide from the light?

Aren’t you afraid of what’s lurking in the dark?

Why can’t you stop tugging at shadows?

Aren’t you waiting for a better tomorrow?”
